At Land O’ Lakes Dental Care, we are very pleased to offer our patients dental implants as replacements for missing teeth. Unlike some practices, we can provide the entire procedure in our office rather than having to refer a patient out for some of the steps.
Dental implants are permanent, fixed replacements that can last the rest of a patient’s life with the proper care, and they are nearly indistinguishable from natural teeth. The process starts with an examination of the health of your gums and the sturdiness of bone in the area where the implant will be placed. There must be dense, healthy bone in this area. If there is not, a preliminary step will be needed to strengthen it.
The implant, a slender titanium post, is then placed in the bone. It is allowed to heal while the titanium bonds with your bone. When fully healed, your replacement tooth will be attached to the top of the implant.
Your new tooth will now feel and look just like a natural tooth. Regular cleanings are recommended to keep the implant area clean and healthy.
